Antidumping duty (反倾销关税)

An anti-dumping duty (反倾销关税 fǎn qīng xiāo guān shuì) refers to a tariff imposed by the domestic government on foreign imports which are considered to be too low below the fair market price. Duty as in on duty (值班 zhí bān). Duty as in import duties (进口税 jìn kǒu shuì; duty or tax 关税, guān shuì). Anti- as in antipollution (反污染 fǎn wū rǎn). Also see: dumping.

• “Dump” (倾销 qīng xiāo) derives from:
  • “倾” (qīng) as in “tendency” (倾向 qīng xiàng), “pour/dump” (倾倒 qīng dào), or “slope/incline/lean” (倾斜 qīng xié).
  • “销” (xiāo) as in “sell” (销售 xiāo shòu), “destroy” (销毁 xiāo huǐ), or “sales/quantity sold” (销量 xiāo liàng).
• “Duty” (关税 guān shuì) as in “customs union” (关税同盟 guān shuì tóng méng), or “tariff barrier” (关税壁垒 guān shuì bì lěi).
