Cryptographic puzzle (密码学难题)

Cryptographic puzzle (密码学难题 mì mǎ xué nán tí) refers to a script that is used to dictate how funds can be spent in the future. It is also known as a locking script. See “Cryptographic”  (密码学 mì mǎ xué).

Part 1: Breakdown of Words

• “Cryptographic/cryptography” (密码学 mì mǎ xué) derives from:
  • “密” (mì) as in “password” (密码 mì mǎ), “secret” (秘密 mì mì), or “dense” (密集 mì jí).
  • “码” (mǎ) as in “dock” (码头 mǎ tóu), or “code” (代码 dài mǎ).
• “Puzzle” (难题 nán tí) as in “crossword puzzle” (纵横难题 zòng héng nán tí; 纵, vertical; 横, horizontal).
  • “难” (nán) as in “difficult” (困难 kùn nán), “sad” (难过 nán guò), or “degree of difficulty” (难度 nán dù).
  • “题” (tí) as in “problem” (问题 wèn tí), “theme” (题材 tí cái), or “topic” (话题 huà tí).
