Demand-pull inflation (需求拉动型通货膨胀 xūqiú lādòng xíng tōnghuò péngzhàng) refers to inflation arises when aggregate demand exceeds aggregate supply and hence pushes up the price level.
- 需求 (xūqiú) derives from:
需 (xū) as in needing (需要 xūyào) or requiring (所需 suǒxū). 求 (qiú) as in requesting (要求 yāoqiú) or pursuit (追求 zhuīqiú).
需求 (xūqiú) as in user demand (用户需求 yònghù xūqiú), market demand (市场需求 shìchǎng xūqiú) or food needs (食物需求 shíwù xūqiú).
- 拉动 (lādòng) as in increasing growth (拉动增长 lādòng zēngzhǎng) or stimulating demand (拉动需求 lādòng xūqiú).
- 通 (tōng) as in circulation (流通 liútōng), passing (通过 tōngguò) or smooth (通顺 tōngshùn).
- 货 (huò) as in commodity or goods (货品 huòpǐn), money (通货 tōnghuò). The underlying radical is 贝 (bei), which contains the meaning of money.
- 膨胀 (péngzhàng) as in confidence growth (信心膨胀 xìnxīn péngzhàng), thermal expansion (热膨胀 rèpéngzhàng) or expansion coefficient (膨胀系数 péngzhàng xìshù).
