Financial intermediation (金融中介化 jīnróng zhōngjiè huà) refers to the process of facilitating financial transactions between the party who has surplus funds and want to lend and those with a shortage of funds who want to borrow. Financial intermediaries develop products and services to connect the surplus and deficit agents and meet the different needs of the two parties.
